Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Arrives, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the upcoming animated film.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Iconic Releases
In the vein of the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The film will see the return of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
